We build data pipelines that connect student information systems to state reporting without manual CSV exports.
// The Problem
K-12 districts run dozens of disconnected systems: SIS for enrollment, LMS for coursework, assessment platforms, special education case managers, transportation, food service. When the state asks for a student count or a CRDC report, someone in the data office spends two weeks pulling CSVs from each system, deduplicating records in Excel, and reformatting to match the state's submission schema. A single district we worked with had 23 separate data systems and zero automated data flows between them.
We build Ed-Fi-compliant data pipelines that normalize student records across systems into a single operational data store. Enrollment, demographics, attendance, grades, and assessment results flow in near-real-time. State reporting that used to take 80+ staff hours per submission window now runs as an automated job with exception-based review.
For districts adopting Ed-Fi, we build the ODS deployment, API surface, and source system connectors. For states, we build the collection and validation infrastructure that districts submit to. Either way, the goal is the same: eliminate the manual data wrangling that burns staff time and introduces errors.
// Capabilities
SIS Integration & Data Normalization
Connectors for PowerSchool, Infinite Campus, Skyward, and Tyler SIS. Student records normalize into a canonical schema regardless of source. Deduplication logic handles cross-enrollment and transfer students using deterministic and probabilistic matching.
Ed-Fi ODS & API Deployment
Full Ed-Fi Operational Data Store deployment including API surface, descriptor management, and identity resolution. Source system adapters map vendor-specific data models to Ed-Fi entities. Validation rules catch schema violations before data lands in the ODS.
State Reporting Automation
Automated generation of state-mandated reports: student counts, CRDC, CALPADS, PEIMS, EMIS—whatever your state requires. Validation checks run against the state's business rules before submission. Exception dashboards flag records that need manual correction.
Assessment & Analytics Pipelines
Ingestion of assessment data from NWEA MAP, SBAC, ACT, and state-specific assessments. Score normalization across different scales. Longitudinal dashboards track growth at the student, school, and district level without waiting for vendor-provided reports.
// Frequently Asked
What is Ed-Fi and why does it matter for school districts?
Ed-Fi is an open data standard and API specification for K-12 education data, maintained by the Ed-Fi Alliance. It defines a common schema for student demographics, enrollment, grades, assessments, and more. Districts that adopt Ed-Fi can connect their systems through a single API instead of building point-to-point integrations between every vendor.
How do you integrate with PowerSchool and Infinite Campus?
We use their published APIs where available and supplement with direct database reads for data not exposed through the API. Change data capture pipelines keep the integration near-real-time rather than relying on nightly batch exports. We've built connectors for PowerSchool SIS, Infinite Campus, Skyward, and Tyler.
How long does Ed-Fi implementation take for a district?
A typical K-12 district Ed-Fi deployment takes 10-14 weeks. That covers ODS installation, 2-3 priority source system connectors (usually SIS, HR, and assessment), and state reporting validation. Additional source systems add 3-4 weeks each depending on API availability.
Can you automate state education reporting?
Yes. We build automated pipelines for state-mandated submissions including student counts, CRDC, and state-specific collections like CALPADS or PEIMS. Data flows from the ODS through validation rules that match the state's business logic, and exceptions route to staff for correction. Most districts cut reporting effort by 70-80%.
